Dometic toilets are known for their durable design, but a common issue affects their foot pedal flusher valve. If the foot pedal quickly snaps shut, the valve inside the toilet can snap off. This problem is more likely to occur in cold-weather environments or with repeated use. Luckily, there is an easy and affordable solution to fix this problem. This tutorial will show you how to repair your Dometic toilet’s foot pedal using our 3D printed replacement shaft.
Purchase the replacement shaft from our Etsy Store
Step 1: Gather the necessary tools and materials
- Flat-tip screwdriver
- Drill
- Our 3D printed replacement shaft
- Plastic glue
Step 2: Remove the cover from the foot pedal
- Using a flat-tip screwdriver, carefully remove the cover from the foot pedal
Step 3: Remove the retaining screw holding in the foot pedal
- Using a flat-tip screwdriver, remove the screw that is holding in the foot pedal
- Beware a spring is behind the foot pedal, save the spring and screw for reassembling
Step 4: Make note of the orientation of the notch in the broken shaft.
- The notch should be verticle(up and down) position
Step 5: Drill out the old broken shaft
- With the foot pedal resting on a flat surface, use a drill, carefully drill out the old broken shaft
Step 6: Glue in the new replacement shaft
- Place the new part in the hole that was drilled, and make sure the notch is vertically aligned, exactly as the old broken part was.
- Apply a small amount of plastic glue to the shaft
- Insert the shaft into the hole you drilled earlier
Step 7: Reinstall the pedal and retaining screw
- Reinstall the tension spring –
- Reinstall the pedal
- Reinstall the retaining screw
- Put the cover back on
Step 8: Test your toilet
- Carefully test your toilet to ensure that it is working properly
